College has introduced the Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting &
Finance) Course from Academic Year 2010-2011. It has a strong emphasis
on developing analytical skill and offers a solid grounding and
professional competence in all aspects of commerce required for careers
in the business and corporate sectors.
The Bachelor
of Commerce (Accounting and Finance) aims to produce graduates who will
produce innovative solutions to problems, apply research
skills to business challenges and communicate effectively.
While the course is primarily theoretical, there is a
good blend of projects, case studies and industrial visits to enable a
student to get well- versed with the functioning of the Industry.There
is also exposure to working in the industry during the Summer Internship
Programs which is a compulsory component of the
program.
Graduates can pursue careers in the field of
Accounts, Financial analysis, credit analysis, stock brokers, real
estate, financial planners. Consultants & managers.
These degrees aim
at:
- Creating for the students of University
of Mumbai an additional avenue of self- employment and also to benefit
the industry by providing them with suitable trained persons in the
field of Accounting & Finance
(BAF)
- Preparing students to exploit opportunities,
being newly created in Accounting and Finance as the profession due to
Globalization, Privatization &
Liberalization.
- To provide adequate basic
understanding about Banking, Insurance & other financial
services to the students and to give an adequate exposure to operational
environment in the field & other related financial services of
Accounting and Finance.
- To inculcate training, and
practical approach, by organizing industrial visits, summer placements
and using modem technology in teaching the students in the field of
Accounting & Finance.
Certificate Course:
The Certificate Course on Financial Markets arranged by Mithibai College in association with M/s Goodlife has been completed successfully by the end of October, 2018. It was started by BAF department on 25th August 2017. Currently, 64 students have registered themselves for this course. This course was conducted in two batches on every Saturday. The objective of this course is to fill the employability gap and to provide the students information and knowledge about the existing stock markets and to understand the career opportunities in this area.
Numero 4
- On 1st October 2018 , Numero 4 , an intercollegiate seminar was organised by the students of Accounting and Finance department of Mithibai College at Santokba Sadan Hall. Over 320 students from all over the Mumbai attended and they welcomed the eminent personalities and the speakers for the event beginning with Mr. Nachiket Naik, followed by Dr. Pawan Agrawal.
- The first speaker, Mr. Nachiket Naik on the stage who spoke on the topic "Transformation of the banking system in India”. Nachiket Naik has over 18 years of experience in the credit and debt markets and serves as the Managing Director of IREP Credit Capital Pvt Ltd. Mr. Nachiket Naik is an Engineer and MBA by qualification.
- Dr. Pawan Agrawal conquers hearts by his inspiring words throughout the globe.. Dr. Pawan Agrawal had carried out far reaching research on Logistics & Supply Chain Management of Dabbawala in Mumbai from Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University, Nasik.
Guest Lectures arranged for students
- Finance Gym lecture was conducted on 28-6-18 and 29-6-18 for SYBAF students.
- Aditya Gupta, an Alumni of the College was invited for a Guest Lecture on 21st September, 2018 for FYBAF and SYBAF on the topic 'Portfolio Management'
- Nidhi Shah, an Alumni of the College delivered a Guest Lecture on 22nd September, 2018 for FYBAF and SYBAF on the topic 'Resume Writing'
- Early morning of August 26 shaped an aura of enthusiasm and togetherness amongst the students of Accountancy and Finance department of Mithibai College as they prepared Bhaidas Hall for an unforgettable event, Numéro 3. With each passing moment, the venue witnessed a whole new level of synchrony among the students and faculty of the organizing department.
- With an ambition to work ahead of time, at 9:30 AM the entire committee was ready to accommodate over 1000 students from all over the city to experience the initiative taken by the department of Bachelors of Accountancy and Finance aka B.A.F. With unending joy, the audience welcomed the eminent personalities and the speakers for the event beginning with Mr. Raj Kundra, followed by Mr. Nowshad Rizwanullah and finally, Mr. Kumar Shah.
- The event started with lighting of the lamp by the esteemed chief guests including the college Principal, Dr. Rajpal Shripat Hande, college Vice-Principal (Self-Finance Courses), Dr. Nupur Mehrotra, college advisor, Shri. Arjun Birajdar and the department co-ordinator Prof. Bharat Patel. Along with the song of Saraswati Vandana, hymned the entire audience as they geared up for the introductory speech given by the Principal, Dr. Rajpal Shripat Hande.
- After the welcoming of chief guests Dr. Hande, in his speech showered words of wisdom and mentioned a few life-learning lessons by giving an example of an eagle. He also welcomed the guest speaker, Mr. Raj Kundra with a bouquet of flowers and set the event in motion which was applauded generously by the audience.
- Mr. Raj Kundra later took the podium and enlightened the crowd about this own experience in several areas of business and also offered meaningful advice to the budding entrepreneurs in the crowd. He introduced his new start-up, StockRace, a mock stock gaming portal and communicated its working by playing it on the stage. He later invited questions from the students present and answered them aptly.
- Subsequently, Mr. Nowshad Rizwanullah, CEO of MissMalini.com highlighted his ambitions and left the crowd enthralled by talking about his journey from being a Harvard Business School graduate to managing a well-known start-up. His speech allowed the students to collect impressive inputs which could be practiced in life, as he presented a holistic approach towards education.
- Finally, Kumar Shah, CFO of Merill Lynch Bank of America addressed the crowd with absolute pleasure and aided in channelizing career paths for many present. He shared his experience in his field of expertise and gave away numerous lessons to the students to chisel a bright future for themselves.
- With such a great response, the event ended with National Anthem and loads of positive feedbacks from the visitors. However, the thoroughly informative yet fun seminar wouldn't have been possible without the managing team of Numéro.
Numéro is a one-day seminar conducted by the BAF (Bachelors of Commerce in Accounts and Finance) department of Mithibai Degree College where we invite industry experts to share their experience and give updated and valuable information to the students of different colleges across the Mumbai city. Our goal is to bring together cheerful minds that have the urge to learn and gain knowledge on the areas that are idea-focused and on a comprehensive range of subjects, to nurture learning, inspiration in order to provoke conversations that matter.
This year, there were 150 students from different colleges had attended this seminar on 22nd August, 2015 at Juhu Jagruti Hall on First Floor of the main college building. There were 3 speakers for the seminar

- SWATCH BHARAT ABHIYAN: Students participated in Swatch Bharat Abhiyan to clean streets and areas close to Mithibai College in year 2014-15.
COLOSSEUM FESTIVAL - Colosseum is the Management festival of Mithibai College. It is managed collectively by the students of BAF, BFM, BBI and BMS. The festival is a 3 day fest where in various colleges across Mumbai come together and compete with each other in various events like mock stock, press conference, football, tug of war, dance, fashion show etc.

- Vrunda Bhuta and Janvee Shah from SYBAF has presented a paper titled “ Financial Literacy and Education” in a Two-day State Level Seminar on Changing Dimensions in Accounting, Finance and Taxation in the Indian Scenario organised by Ramniranjan Jhunjhunwala College on 16th and 17th February 2018 and received BEST PAPER AWARD.
